We have exciting opportunities available in our Intermediary Team for ‘Business Development Managers’.  We’re looking for experienced development managers with dynamism and drive to deliver great customer outcomes; building new and growing existing broker relationships.

You will be part of a diverse team of experts and the primary purpose of your role is to build the profile and reputation of Monmouthshire Building Society using every opportunity to network and engage with our important broker communities.  Gaining valuable insight, you will provide information and feedback to influence business decisions and be able to support brokers to understand how we can help their customers by helping them understand our products and criteria.  Proactive stakeholder management and fantastic networking skills will be part of who you are with a real desire to build and develop long term relationships supporting the growth of our Society.  

Key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Identifying, building, growing and enhancing new and existing relationships with broker firms, networks and clubs
  • Own and develop relationships with senior stakeholders within broker firms, networks and clubs across the UK to enable Monmouthshire BS to achieve its strategic mortgage objectives
  • To represent the Society at various networking events and meetings including trade shows, conferences and round tables
  • Understand the needs of intermediaries and be able to respond effectively instilling confidence
  • To assist in developing a dynamic, proactive can-do culture across the department focusing on delivering the right customer outcomes
  • To play a key role in ensuring the successful implementation of new initiatives
  • To build strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders including Underwriting, Product and Marketing teams

You will have experience of working in a similar position, must be CeMAP, (or equivalent), qualified and hold a minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade C or above.  Experience of working within the intermediary market is essential as well as being self motivated and used to a busy environment.

Company Description

From the most humble of beginnings the Society has grown into a large and highly efficient organisation.


The Society was founded by a group of local businessmen on the evening of Saturday, January 23, 1869. On May 7 that year the Society granted its first loans, £200 to Mr John Hellier of 6 Tunnel Terrace and £150 to Mr James McBean, a bootmaker of 118 Commercial Road.


Since that time the Society has served the people of Newport and surrounding areas through two world wars, two turns of the century and seen Newport grow from a population of 26,000 people and 3,900 properties to its present size. Members of the Society are proud of its past and its valuable contribution to the economic growth of the wide area it serves.


Today the Society provides a range of Savings and Mortgage products to an increasing number of people throughout South Wales. As a local building society we remain active within our community, supporting local causes through sponsorship, and aiding community organisations and charities through our Charitable Foundation.


We are one of 49 remaining building societies within the UK. Building Societies focus on looking after their members and customers without the pressure to return some of the profits to external shareholders.
