Job Description

First Choice Housing Association is looking for a Senior Public Relations Manager to lead delivery of our public affairs work, identify risks and opportunities, and co-ordinate public affairs activities across FCHA. The role will require networking experience and the ability to build strong relationships locally.

Who we are

First Choice is at the forefront of the provision of specialised housing throughout Wales for vulnerable people with complex needs. The association is renowned for its tenant participation and we are committed to working in partnership with our stakeholders to develop best practice in development, management and maintenance of accommodation for people with additional needs.

The association works closely with Local Authorities, NHS Trusts and a wide range of support providers. As an all-Wales association we are in a strong position to meet the demand for our services and to provide innovative solutions to local issues.

Senior Public Relations Manager: The Work

Work will include: 

  • Ensuring social housing remains a cross-party political priority and that housing associations are viewed as key players in ending the housing crisis in Wales
  • Championing the value and impact of Supported Housing and specialist supported housing, ensuring their benefits are recognised and promoted across the political spectrum.
  • Leading delivery of our public affairs work, identifying risks and opportunities, coordinating public affairs activity across FCHA. 
  • Building strong relationships on a cross-party basis locally with MS’s, MP’s ad local elected members, raising the agenda for people with a learning disability

Work hours

Standard full time hours are 35 per week, Monday to Friday. Flexible working hours including generous time off in lieu arrangements. We also offer agile working with a blend of home/office working. A working from home allowance is also provided of £50pcm.

Salary

£48,664 - £53,598 per annum

Members of the Board give their time on a voluntary basis. The Board meets periodically to determine strategy and policy, monitor performance and ensure that the Association makes the most effective and efficient use of resources to achieve its objectives.

Certain matters are devolved to Committees, as follows:

  • Audit, Risk & Assurance Committee 
  • People & Culture Committee 

The Board of Management has overall responsibility for the Association whilst day to day control is delegated to the Chief Executive.

​This includes making sure standards are met and that the Association is accountable and open. It also sets the strategic direction of the Association.
