Key Responsibilities
As a SEN Primary School Teaching Assistant based in Ystrad Mynach, your daily duties will include:

• Providing tailored, specialist support to pupils with PMLD, fostering their development and well-being such as assisting with communication strategies including sensory approaches and objects of reference
• Assisting with personal care and communication strategies, including touch cues and sensory approaches
• Implementing highly differentiated, multi-sensory learning activities to engage pupils and support their individual progress
• Collaborating closely with the Class Teacher and external professionals such as therapists to create an inclusive and positive learning environment
• Supporting the development of life skills and promoting independence among pupils
• Helping maintain a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment

Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a SEN Primary School Teaching Assistant, you will need:

• Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, especially PMLD, is advantageous
• Knowledge of communication methods such as sensory approaches, objects of reference and touch cues
• Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to supporting inclusive education
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships with children and colleagues
