Job Description

To be responsible for the supervision and care of pupils using free school transport provided by the County Borough of Wrexham under the criteria set out by the Local Education Authority (LEA).

Description of Principal Duty or Responsibility

  • Supervise and care for the pupils on the contracted vehicle  
  • Assist pupils to board and alight the contracted vehicles at the approved nodal points (that is a boarding point, stop or home address)
  • Where appropriate, ensure pupils are received by a responsible adult at the school or nodal point.
  • Maintain pupil and parent confidentiality
  • Liaise between school and home
  • Report any incident, accident or breach of contract in accordance with Council Policy
  • To be responsible for equipment and supplies, as necessary
  • To have knowledge of the County Borough’s policies on Health and Safety.
  • Complete from time to time such forms as may be required
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade

Context Statement

Working on licensed vehicles contracted by the County Borough for the transporting of pupils to and from educational establishments. The duties are primarily undertaken during school term time. There is a requirement for staff to attend training and development activities at other times.

The post is subject to a DBS check because of the close work with children. 

Although the post may be allocated to a specific contract, the Council reserves the right to re-allocate the post holder to other contract(s) at short notice.
