Job Description

The post holder supports qualified mechanics in the inspection, servicing, and repair of a fleet of heavy goods vehicles, light commercial vehicles, and plant equipment. They undertake routine maintenance tasks under supervision (e.g. tyre checks, fluid checks, lubrication, basic component replacement) and assist with statutory safety inspections (e.g. PSV/HGV standards) under appropriate guidance.

They will be working towards achieving the Level 2 NVQ Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair qualification through structured on‑the‑job training and attendance at college.

They will be required to keep training logs, assessments, and practical tasks set by mentors or training providers and will be expected to progressively undertake more complex mechanical tasks as competence increases.

They will be Expected to demonstrate increasing competence and independence as training progresses. Progress will be reviewed regularly with supervisors and the training provider.
