Job Description

Money Ready is dedicated to creating a financially fluent population and our trainers are at the heart of making that a reality. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and engaging Programme Trainer to join our South Wales team, delivering high-quality financial education to young people, adults and professionals across the region.

You’ll work across our full suite of programmes, delivering to a diverse range of learners including children, young people and adults, often those who are at risk or vulnerable. Our trainers come from a variety of backgrounds, including primary and secondary teaching and youth work, and that breadth of experience is something we value greatly.

You don’t need to be a financial education expert already. Full training is provided. What matters most is a genuine passion for working with people and the ability to engage a room.

What the role involves: Delivering financial education sessions across a range of settings throughout South Wales, requiring significant travel to delivery locations. Working face-to-face with diverse groups of learners, with occasional virtual delivery. Building relationships with delivery partners and contributing to ongoing programme development through feedback and collaboration. All delivery-related travel is covered.

Key details:

  • Hybrid working — we’re interested to speak to candidates anywhere in the South Wales area
  • Full time, 37.5 hours
  • 24-month contract, with possible extension
  • Salary of £30,250 FTE with all delivery-related travel covered
  • We encourage applications in Welsh or English — a Welsh speaker able to deliver sessions and support translating resources is desirable but not essential

Key responsibilities:

Programme Delivery

  • Deliver Money Ready’s suite of programmes in a variety of settings to support the delivery of our business plan and the Programme and Delivery Directorate’s delivery plan.
  • Deliver sessions in line with the Money Ready education and accreditation framework, ensuring learners are well-supported to achieve programme accreditation. Adapt your delivery to meet the needs and learning styles of diverse participants, often thinking on your feet and responding flexibly to what is happening in the room.
  • Complete all Money Ready processes that support our delivery work. Invest in your own development by learning from colleagues and continuously refining your delivery skills. This will include taking part in our internal training opportunities.

Programme Development

  • Use your insight and experience to support the ongoing development of our programmes in a structured and thoughtful way, for example through content creation and refinement.
  • Support Money Ready in engaging with young people to help shape and improve our programmes, as we continue to embrace a co-creation approach.
  • Take ownership of adapting and developing programmes, ensuring they reflect the diverse needs of learners across the country and encouraging diversity of thought to thrive.
  • Contribute to Money Ready’s innovation as we explore new programme areas that help us further our mission.

External Relations

  • Build relationships with delivery partners across your patch.
  • Proactively identify new opportunities to deliver our programmes or expand our work in new and innovative ways, with an initial focus on courses supporting vulnerable young adults.
  • Be the best ambassador for our work to all external stakeholders including young people, delivery partners, politicians, funders, the press, the wider education community, local authorities and so on.

Working across Money Ready

  • Work with colleagues across the country as we continue to develop and grow the organisation.
  • Contribute to areas of the organisation beyond your immediate role, offering advice and support to colleagues in different teams and functions.
  • Embed yourself fully within the organisation, recognising that our strategy and business plan are shared responsibilities, and that our culture is shaped both with you and by you.

Person specification:

You will need to show:

  • Proven experience of delivering education, training, and/or outreach work.
  • Proven experience of working with young people and/or adults, including those who are at risk or vulnerable.
  • A strong understanding of the contexts and challenges faced by diverse young people and adults.
  • Experience in contributing to curriculum development, design, evaluation, or delivery (experience in just one of these areas is sufficient).
  • A clear commitment to your own learning and professional development.

Skills and abilities

  • A confident and engaging delivery style.
  • Ability to adapt your delivery approach to suit a range of contexts and learner stages, and to support learners in achieving accreditation.
  • A skilled networker with a keen eye for opportunities, able to identify areas for potential growth for Money Ready.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive partnerships with delivery partners and host organisations.
  • Able to work independently and autonomously, within the boundaries set by Money Ready and your manager.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, with experience of (or a willingness to learn) CRM systems — Money Ready uses Salesforce.
  • We are looking for someone who speaks Welsh and feels confident delivering sessions in the language (Desirable).
  • Able to support the development of Money Ready resources into Welsh (Desirable).

Knowledge

  • An unwavering commitment to equality and diversity in all your work.
  • Awareness and, ideally, an understanding of how social and situational factors impact the people we serve.
  • A keen interest in the welfare of our learners.
  • An understanding of the UK formal and/or informal education landscape.
  • An understanding of the local area in which you live and work.
  • An understanding of learning pedagogy.
  • An understanding of the importance of monitoring and evaluation of programmes.
  • To have achieved or be willing to work towards a level 3 AET or equivalent.

Benefits

  • Enhanced annual leave
  • Pension scheme
  • Supportive family leave policies
  • Wellbeing resources and initiatives
  • Structured learning and leadership development
  • Opportunities to learn from and collaborate with expert volunteers from our corporate partners

Key dates:

  • Application deadline: Tuesday 1 September at 9am
  • Round 1 interviews: week commencing 7 September (online)
  • Round 2 interviews: week commencing 14 September
