Remote and Online English Teacher

1. We are seeking qualified, passionate, and dedicated Online English Teachers to match the growing demand across our live academic delivery.
2. As an Online English Teacher at EDClass, you will deliver structured, high-impact sessions across Key Stage 3, GCSE English Language and English Literature (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, Eduqas), and Functional Skills English (Levels 1 and 2).
3. All staff onboarding, induction, and training modules are compulsory and fully paid.

Remote and Online English Teacher (KS3, GCSE Literature and Language, and Functional Skills)

Salary: £30 per hour

Hours: Flexible, 10–25 hours per week (Term-time only, Monday–Friday between 9:00am and 4:00pm, focused on core peak delivery hours)

Location: Remote / Work from Home — Must be resident and based in the UK with QTS gained in the UK.

Other English roles also available: Full-time Online English Teachers with a Salary £39,750 are also available at our head office in Dinnington, Sheffield alongside part time, term-time or flexible arrangements.

Contract: Direct contract with EDClass for Part-time / Hourly (Commitment to the full academic year preferred)

Delivery Model and Platform Structure

Lessons are 1 hour long in live, timetabled sessions structured across our specialised virtual learning environments:

• EDLive: Small-group, highly focused live timetabled lessons (1:1 to 1:5 ratio) centred on structured topics, curriculum objectives, text analysis, and core subject teaching.
• EDTeach: Targeted intervention sessions delivered on a 1:1 or up to 1:3 ratio, designed around key focus points to directly diagnose and address specific gaps in literacy, reading comprehension, and written expression.
• EDClass Plus: Live, responsive teaching assistance where teachers support students as they work through exam questions, interactive e-learning modules, and structured pathways, including taking students into live breakout rooms for focused, real-time intervention and scaffolding.

The Role

As an Online English Teacher at EDClass, you will deliver structured, high-impact sessions across Key Stage 3, GCSE English Language and English Literature (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, Eduqas), and Functional Skills English (Levels 1 and 2).

Our platform supports a diverse cohort of learners, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, or students facing barriers to mainstream education. You will play a central role in breaking down complex literary and linguistic concepts, building literacy and analytical confidence, closing knowledge gaps, and guiding pupils toward accredited qualification success and successful reintegration.

Key Responsibilities

• Live Interactive Teaching: Deliver 1-hour timetabled lessons across EDLive, targeted gap-closing sessions in EDTeach, and responsive breakout room coaching in EDClass Plus.
• Curriculum and Exam Preparation: Deliver high-quality instruction across KS3 English, GCSE English Language, GCSE English Literature, and Functional Skills English (Reading, Writing, and Speaking, Listening and Communicating), preparing students thoroughly for formal assessments.
• Digital Learning and Content: Assist learners as they navigate e-learning pathways, past paper analysis, creative/transactional writing tasks, and digital exercises; plan and record engaging explanations for our digital library.
• Assessment and Feedback: Provide regular, constructive feedback (both verbally and written) and mark student work accurately to track academic progression and develop writing mechanics.
• Inclusive Pedagogy: Apply calm, encouraging, and supportive approaches to engage vulnerable, disaffected, or anxious learners.
• Safeguarding and Reporting: Uphold rigorous safeguarding standards at all times, monitoring student wellbeing and providing detailed feedback to partner schools regarding attendance, engagement, and behaviour.
• Additional Opportunities: Additional paid hours may be available for marking, exam invigilation, parental meetings, and pastoral mentoring.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

• Location: Must be currently resident and based in the UK with the right to work in the UK.
• Qualifications: Must hold a recognised UK teaching qualification (Qualified Teacher Status / QTS, or secondary PGCE).
• Teaching Experience: Minimum of 3 years of successful secondary classroom or alternative provision teaching experience in English.
• Subject Knowledge: Strong command of the KS3 and KS4 English National Curriculum (GCSE English Language and Literature specifications across major exam boards such as AQA, Edexcel, and OCR) and Functional Skills English qualifications (Levels 1 and 2).
• Digital Literacy: Confident ICT skills with the ability to manage virtual classroom features (breakout rooms, chat, audio, digital whiteboards) and keep pupils engaged online.
• Inclusive Practice: Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable, disengaged, or SEND/SEMH learners using supportive, patient, and adaptive teaching strategies.
• Safeguarding Commitment: Uncompromising commitment to child protection, pupil safety, and statutory guidance.
• Reliability: Excellent time management and organisational skills, with a commitment to maintaining timetable continuity for learners throughout the academic year.

Desirable Criteria

• Experience delivering live online lessons or remote tutoring in small groups or one-to-one.
• Experience preparing students specifically for Functional Skills English assessments.
• Understanding of the DfE Online Education Accreditation Scheme standards.

Key Contract Details:

• Direct Employment: You will hold a direct formal contract with EDClass (no agencies, third-party businesses, or tutoring intermediaries involved).
• Paid Training & Induction: All staff onboarding, induction, and training modules are compulsory and fully paid.
• Paid On-Site Time: You will be paid for any time worked or attended at our offices.
