Job Description

Title: Training & Development Manger

Reports to: Director

Role

The incumbent is responsible for the development, delivery, and organisation of all training & development for all of Cariad care Home’s staff to promote personal and professional development ensuring we deliver the highest possible standard of care.

Organizational Relationships 

The incumbent is accountable to the Board of Directors.

Core Functions

  • To provide Training & development to all Cariad Care Homes team members.
  • To Compile and evolve a continual training plan for Cariad Care Homes as required by our regulators and as required against organisational goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of any training programmes and [produce reports for feedback to Care Home Managers & Directors.
  • Produce comprehensive training materials for any training and development as required for Cariad employees.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver Induction training and development for new employees, ensuring a positive introduction to Cariad Care Homes.
  • Create training programmes that are aligned with regulatory requirements and the organisations objectives.
  • Plan, Prepare and deliver core training for all Cariad employees, as per regulations and Social Care Wales requirements.
  • Prepare resources to help support training & development and ensure all employees have access to such documents.
  • Produce action plans in line with training and/or development shortfalls.
  • Establish yourself as the point of contact for all queries and issues relating to Training & Development and Social Care Wales Registration.
  • Work closely with Care Home Managers to understand and identify training needs required.
  • Support the Care Home Managers to assist in understanding Performance related to training and implement changes to policy practice across both homes.
  • Learn to establish different methods of delivering training, including classroom, e-learning, tutorial sessions, as applicable.
  • Continually manage and develop own mandatory training and practice including research for industry standard changes to training.
  • Establish a good working relationship with external training providers.
  • Maintain accurate records of staff training and development, including establishing a Training completion percentage audit.  
  • Ability to communicate confidently and build collaborative, effective working relationships with the Operational and HR team members.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and an ability to adapt quickly to changing plans and timescales.
  • Participate in all meetings as directed by the Board of Directors.
  • To Maintain care and management skills at the current level, and undertake such training and development as may from time- to -time be required to maintain practice.
  • Ensure continuous personal development: including all mandatory, Home/Service Specific ‘train the trainer’ updates are kept up to date and qualifications are certified.
  • Complete monthly quality audits.

Candidate Spensifications & Qualification Required 

The training & Development Manager is required to have the necessary qualifications, skills, and experience to carry out the regulated activities.

  • Train the trainer Certification, PTTLS or AET in teaching, or TQUK Level 3 Award IN Education & Training.
  • NVQ Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement
  • IT literate - familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Time management skills, manage own workload including own diary.
  • Working effectively within a team, and on an individual basis.
  • Self-motivated with a flexible approach and strong work ethic.
  • To work under pressure balancing several high priority actions at once.
  • Solution focused, ability to “think outside the box” provide the best solutions & outcomes.

The duties of this position may change from time to time and incumbents may be required to undertake other or additional duties which are consistent with the overall role and the grade of the post. Incumbents will be subject to regular appraisal.
