CERYN Engineering Ltd is a Civil & Structural Engineering Consultancy providing end-to-end support across the asset lifecycle. The consultancy delivers expertise from inspection and defect identification, through load capacity assessment, to the design of permanent engineering solutions and the temporary works that enable their safe and efficient construction.

Specialising in Highway and Rail structures, CERYN provides a complete suite of inspection, assessment, design, and assurance services, covering bridges, structural refurbishments, retaining walls, culverts, and other critical infrastructure assets. The consultancy also delivers Network Rail–compliant engineering services, including design certification, structural assurance, and documentation aligned with industry standards.

We are seeking an experienced Senior CAD Technician with strong AutoCAD and MicroStation and capability to join our expanding technical team. This role is ideal for a proactive technician who enjoys working collaboratively with engineers, contributing to high-quality design outputs, and supporting junior team members.

ROLE SUMMARY

As a Senior CAD Technician, you will work closely with Engineers and Technicians across a diverse range of civil and structural engineering projects. You will produce detailed drawings, support design development, and ensure outputs meet industry standards and client expectations.

You will play a key role in maintaining drawing quality, supporting project delivery, and contributing to the continued growth of CERYN Engineering.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Senior Technician, your duties will include:

• Producing and detailing civil and structural engineering drawings using MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Prepare general arrangement drawings, reinforcement details, steelwork designs and connection details in line with design requirements.
• Ensuring drawings accurately reflect engineering designs, liaising closely with the wider team.
• Reviewing and checking drawings prepared by other team members to maintain quality and consistency.
• Mentoring and supporting Junior Technicians, contributing to skills development within the team.
• Managing drawing packages and supporting project coordination across multiple schemes.
• Ensuring compliance with UK industry standards and engineering processes

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Proven experience as a CAD Technician using AutoCAD and MicroStation 3D
• Experience working on infrastructure projects, particularly bridges within the rail or highways sector.
• Strong knowledge of UK engineering standards
• Excellent attention to detail with a strong appreciation for structural design intent.
• High standard of written English and eligibility to work in the UK

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & KNOWLEDGE

(Not essential but advantageous)

• Experience working within ProjectWise environments
• Understanding of Network Rail or TfW document control procedures
• HNC in Construction or Built Environment (or equivalent)
• Experience in civil, structural, rail, bridge, or temporary works sectors
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and BIM Level 2 workflows
• Experience producing GA drawings from 3D topographical surveys, steelwork, and reinforced concrete detailing

WORKING HOURS

• Permanent, full-time position (40 hours per week).
• Flexible start/finish times available within core hours with the option to finish on Friday at 3.00pm.
