Junior Web Developer

1. Compare My Move is a comparison service founded in 2012 for UK movers to compare and connect with moving industry professionals they can trust.

Over the last few years we've rewritten our lead generation engine API in Symfony, launched a partner dashboard in Vue3 and built an internal CRM. We've proven our business model can work for any service. We are now focused on expanding our offerings, optimising our conversion rates and improving our infrastucture. We're looking for an enthusiastic developer to collaborate with the team to add features and improve the existing. This is a fantastic time to join as we are on the brink of clearing some tech debt that will free us up to upgrade to the latest versions of the stack.

The successful candidate will work with the team to create and maintain an engaging experience for our users. This role will range from adding new features to creating email marketing, with debugging and fixing issues and auditing the site for usability concerns in between.

The current tech stack:

• Symfony 5 and Symfony 4 
• API Platform
• Vue.js
• Craft CMS 
• Webpack and Grunt 
• MySQL and Doctrine
• HTML/SCSS/JS 

Imminent projects include: 

• Launching new services 
• Extending the B2B dashboard to provide more autonomy for our partners 
• Extending our internal CRM to aid the partner support team Upgrading our stack
• Consolidating build tools
• Writing a new suite of tests

The ideal candidate 

We're looking for a motivated Junior Web Developer who is passionate about web development and eager to learn and grow. The ideal candidate will have experience in some of the following:

• GIT Version Control and using Best Practices for versioning changes effectively 
• CMSs like Craft or Expression Engine 
• PHP (Symfony or Laravel would be a bonus) 
• Vue.js or React 
• MySQL or similar 
• Building and testing emails (we use MJML) 
• Familiar with integrating APIs 
• Comfortable identifying and squashing bugs 
• Best working practices and documentation 

We absolutely require: 

• Good understanding of CSS, HTML and Javascript
• Good understanding of responsive web design practices
• Understand the importance of writing clean and optimised code Interest in current web trends 
• Excellent communication skills 
• High attention to detail
