Job Description

Geldards LLP is a leading regional law firm with offices in Cardiff, Derby, Nottingham and London. We are currently recruiting for a IT Operations Security Analyst to join our IT team in our open plan and collaborative Cardiff office.

The IT Operations Security Analyst role is to secure operation of both the on-premises and Cloud computer infrastructure. This will include configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimising the network hardware, software and communication links. You will also analyse and resolve end user hardware and software security problems, providing 3rd line support for the wider IT Team. 

Due to the nature of this role this opportunity will include work outside the standard working hours and will include travel to our other offices where necessary. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems. 
  • Maintain the standard OS images used on user devices, ensuring applications are at the latest stable version and uphold security best practices. 
  • Assist in managing the ITSM Service Management tools, including maintenance of asset inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information. 
  • Assist with network and security design and system capacity planning. 
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining policies and procedures for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.  
  • Perform server and security audits.  
  • Ensure critical vulnerability assessments are reviewed and relevant software updates are tested and rolled out within the required timescale.  
  • Recommend, schedule and perform security improvements and upgrades including servers, OS and any applications used within the organisation.  
  • Provide 3rd line support for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software and peripheral devices.  
  • Production of documentation to support applications and processes.  
  • Onsite contact for the external support of network hardware and equipment.  
  • Onsite technical contact for any IT project work.  
  • Administer equipment, hardware, software and firmware upgrades.  
  • Identify any issues either reactively or proactively and implement solutions.  
  • Using ITIL methodologies, formulising and enhancing procedures and service and ensuring these are followed.  
  • Software, licensing and hardware procurement. 

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Certification obtained or looking to achieve:  

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate.  
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate. 

Certification desirable to have:  

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate. 
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate. 
  • CompTIA: Security+, CySA+ and CASP+. 
  • (ISC)2: Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) or Certified Cloud Security Professional (CSCP) 
  • Microsoft Azure technologies. 
  • Microsoft 365 technologies. 
  • Microsoft Windows Server Infrastructure. 
  • Networking, Storage & Backup Infrastructure. 
  • Windows Client Deployment and configuration. 
  • ITSM system such as JIRA Service Management. 
  • Knowledge of Cyber Essentials Plus and other security best practices
