Associate to Senior Associate- Commercial

Geldards LLP is a leading regional law firm with offices in Cardiff, Derby, Nottingham and London. We are currently recruiting for an Associate to Senior Associate (depending on experience) to join our Commercial team in Cardiff.

This role presents a fantastic opportunity for you to work with one of our Partners, Chris Williams to grow and develop your career with a varied work portfolio within a top-ranking Commercial team based in our new collaborative open plan Cardiff office. Working as part of a team who already work in line with our Firms Agile Working policy, you will have the opportunity to develop your own niche within our Commercial team. 

The role will involve providing commercial legal advice and guidance to clients with regards to a wide range of commercial contract matters and non-contentious intellectual property matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Drafting, reviewing/analysing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts including: Trading terms, framework arrangements, supply agreements, agency agreements, and IT contracts.
• Advising on intellectual property law including trademark registrations and renewals, copyright licensing and other IP matters
• Advising on commercial agreements in the charity sector
• Participating in marketing, networking and business development events particularly in the health care and life sciences sector or Fintech sector
• Supervising junior members of the team, acting as a mentor and ensuring their continuous development and progression.
• Actively pursuing and supporting appropriate business development opportunities for the Firm
• Contributing to tenders for new work in conjunction with other fee earners and the Business Development function.
• Analysing problems, highlighting areas of risk and coming up with solutions.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• An opportunity for an associate with previous commercial experience to develop and grow their career.
• Preferably some experience in the fields of data protection law and technology contracts.
• Proven track record of reviewing and negotiating on a wide range of commercial contracts.
• Good understanding of intellectual property law.
• Business development awareness and skills.
• An able negotiator.

• 35 hour working week - Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
