Independent Advisers to the Senedd Commission

The Senedd Commission is seeking to appoint up to five Independent Advisers to bring independent insight, constructive challenge and assurance to support its governance and strategic decision-making.

As an Independent Adviser you will be required to act in a non-political, advisory capacity to the Senedd Commission, predominantly through its executive team. The Advisers are expected to develop constructive relationships and offer supportive challenge across the Commission’s business with a view to ensuring that all aspects of strategy and delivery are scrutinised for effectiveness and efficiency. They contribute to the corporate governance, monitoring of the performance and progress of the organisation, including the use of human and financial resources, and maintain a critical overview of the organisation’s financial controls and procedures.

We are looking for experienced individuals with sound judgement, credibility and a commitment to public service. We are particularly interested in candidates with: 

  • expertise in finance, audit, risk; and
  • dignity and respect, equality and inclusion.

We are also particularly interested in candidates with experienced in transformation, digital change or senior leadership.

This is a rewarding non-executive role offering the opportunity to influence decision-making at the heart of Welsh democracy. The commitment is around 15 days per year and remuneration is £5,000 per annum, with an additional £2,000 available for advisory committee chairing responsibilities.
