Architectural Technician

1. Due to a service area restructure an excellent opportunity has arisen within the new Design, Construction and Maintenance (DCM) Team for a Architectural technician to undertake a range of architectural services across the Council’s non-domestic buildings estate including schools.
2. The purpose of the job is to provide architectural design services in accordance with relevant design standards, codes of practice, etc in respect of a range of building related projects to a consistently high standard in accordance with the customer’s requirements.

Due to a service area restructure an excellent opportunity has arisen within the new Design, Construction and Maintenance (DCM) Team for a Architectural technician to undertake a range of architectural services across the Council’s non-domestic buildings estate including schools.

The newly established DCM Team is responsible for designing and delivering a wide range of building related projects across the Council’s school and corporate building estates. The Team adopts a multi discipline approach to ensure that the Council’s broad range of policy objectives are fully considered.

About the job

The purpose of the job is to provide architectural design services in accordance with relevant design standards, codes of practice, etc in respect of a range of building related projects to a consistently high standard in accordance with the customer’s requirements. The postholder will also be required to proactively assist the Architects and Design Manager with, and lead where required on, the commissioning of professional services and construction work to external organisations.

What we are looking for from you

We are looking for appropriately qualified Architectural Technicians/Technologists to work in the Architectural Group in Projects, Design and Development within the Economic Development service area.

• You will be AutoCAD and Revit proficient and shall prepare design proposals and tender documentation for a wide range of building projects.
• You will be expected to become the design team leader on a range of schemes ensuring designs produce best value for the Council.
• The role will also entail engaging with the changes brought about by Building Information Modelling, in line with Government targets.
• The role will require excellent communication and organisational skills together with appropriate architectural experience
