Job Description

Bryn y Deryn is currently a KS4 Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) for 90 learners who have behavioural, emotional, mental health and social difficulties. We are expanding in September – Do you want to be part of this exciting new offer? We are looking to recruit a team of teachers for our new KS3 provision which will cater for an additional 90 learners.

About the job

Nyth y Deryn provides education and wellbeing for learners with challenging behavioural, emotional and social difficulties as well as for learners with emotional based school avoidance. High quality learning and excellent care, support and guidance are at the heart of our school. As is a commitment to trauma informed approaches. The vision for this school is for the majority of  learners to reintegrate back into mainstream schools

These roles will be based at the key stage 3 provision, which is temporarily going to be located at the site of the old Fitzalan High School. Teachers will be expected to deliver across the breadth of areas of learning experience and will follow a KS3 Curriculum for Wales model.

We are particularly looking to appoint teachers with knowledge and experience in Science and technology, ICT/DCF,  humanities meeting additional learning needs however all applicants will be considered on their own merit.

What We Are Looking For From You

The successful applicant will work as part of a team and have some previous experience of working with learners who have emotional behaviour social and mental health problems and be able to empathise with learners’ difficulties. They will be able to provide teaching and learning opportunities that meet the needs of individual learners. This is an opportunity for persons with empathy, energy, commitment and enthusiasm to make a positive impact to the school and young people.

This post is full-time. Teacher Pay Scale plus SEN allowance. These posts have a requirement for registration with the Education Workforce Council.
