We are delighted to be recruiting to an additional post for our Environmental Health Housing team. The service is responsible for the regulation of the private rented sector, including Houses in Multiple Occupation and the investigation of service requests across all tenures. In addition, the service is responsible for the investigation of statutory nuisance complaints and resolving public health and environmental issues associated with dwellings. We also operate a successful Additional HMO Licensing Scheme.
In addition to Environmental Health Housing work the team now provides advice to our Private Sector Initiatives team who lease properties to alleviate homelessness pressures. This advice ensures that properties comply with all relevant standards for fire safety and Fitness for Human Habitation.
You should hold an HNC/HND in a construction or property surveying related subject and have a sound knowledge of building construction, defects and remedies. Evidence of the successful completion of Housing Health and Safety Rating System training and the associated enforcement course (or able to achieve this within 6 months of appointment).
This post requires you to demonstrate effective communication and negotiation skills; be able to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with people, be flexible, have customer service skills and be confident with regulatory enforcement. You will be capable of organising and prioritising work to meet deadlines and you will operate in a self-sufficient manner. The post holder will have a high standard of problem solving and decision-making skills.
