About NYAS
NYAS is a leading national children’s charity; delivering services across Wales and England when children and families need someone on their side.

NYAS Cymru provides advocacy to children and their families to ensure their rights and entitlements are upheld and their views, wishes and feelings are heard within decision making processes.

Parent Advocacy Programme

An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join our NYAS Cymru team. As part of our Welsh Government funded Parent Advocacy Programme, we are currently seeking to appoint Independent Professional Advocates who will support us to provide independent professional advocacy to parents with children under the age of 18.

The Independent Professional Advocates will be working as part of a team of staff working across Pan Gwent, ensuring that they support Welsh Government's plans of reducing numbers of children entering the care system in Wales. We will be achieving this by working in partnership with the five local authorities within Gwent region of Wales. We will work with our partners to promote the project and agree referral pathways. We will ensure that parents and families with emerging needs are supported in a co-productive model of practice.

About you

  • Experience and understanding of child/vulnerable adult safeguarding procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to a high standard both orally and in writing, particularly with service users.
  • Knowledge of the legislation and policy for relevant service users and the accompanying guidance and regulation.
