Company Information

Care & Repair Cymru is a national charitable body and actively works to ensure that all older people have homes that are safe, secure and appropriate to their needs.

Through our work, and close relationship with the Agencies, we listen to the needs and desires of older people and on the national stage articulate this information to policy makers at the Welsh Government. This advocacy work helps inform thinking about Housing Policy for older people, and wider Health and Social Care policy for older people which is intrinsically linked to appropriate, good quality housing.

Care & Repair Cymru is delighted to have successfully applied for funding from Energy Redress funding, via the Energy Savings Trust.

70+ Cymru is a Wales-wide project, led by Care & Repair Cymru (C&RC) working in partnership with 13 local Care & Repair Agencies. It will deliver a comprehensive and tailored package of support measures to older owner occupiers and private tenants whose energy vulnerability puts them in or at particular risk of fuel poverty.

It will provide advice and support on home energy saving techniques and housing improvements so that people over 70 years old can heat their homes to over 70°F.

The Project will collect, analyse and share a robust project impacts report, detailing ‘what worked’ in achieving healthy warm homes for vulnerable older households.

6 Home Energy Officers (2 part time in West Wales and Powys), based in each of the C&R regions in Wales, will:

  • work closely with the established Care & Repair teams, acting as an expert resource, providing peer-to-peer advice and taking client referrals;
  • undertake home visits to provide household-specific practical and behaviour change oriented support, advice on maximising income and reducing bills, and ‘healthy home’ assessments with direct access to bespoke technical and building expertise;
  • participate in local, regional and Wales-national networks to share knowledge, facilitate referral pathways and support collaborative working.
