Job Description

Volunteer Manager

Hours: 2 days with 15 hours a week
Salary: £24,000 pro rata
Location: Cynon Linc, Aberdare

Overall Responsibility

  • To lead on community engagement and volunteer recruitment.
  • To recruit, train and develop volunteers for Age Connects Morgannwg.
  • To launch a volunteer-led chaperone scheme to help older people return to community life post-covid.
  • To work alongside the other Volunteer Manager to support all other volunteering projects and provide line management to all volunteers.
  • To work in a positive, collaborative manner that contributes to strategic growth and furthers the development of Age Connects Morgannwg.
  • Support new services and contribute to their successful implementation, always seeking opportunities for continuous improvement.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruit volunteers and oversee their training.
  • Provide appropriate support and supervision to volunteers.
  • Launch and manage the chaperoning service.
  • Maintain relationships with community groups.
  • Ensure the rights, dignity, welfare, confidentiality and privacy of service users is always maintained.
  • Carry out regular community consultation on ACM’s work and identify new areas of service provision.
  • Ensure compliance with all contracts for volunteer provision, including budgets.
  • To develop relationships with key partners i.e. social workers, NHS staff, third sector organisations.
  • Secure the commitment of volunteers involved in the charity and ensure volunteers feel their contribution to the charity is valued.
  • Provide statistical evidence on your area of responsibility and to inform funding bids.
  • Work in partnership with other voluntary and statutory organisations.
  • Work alongside other services and departments within ACM and ensure volunteers are involved in the activities of the organisation.
  • Maintain effective and efficient working practices to ensure the provision of qualitative and quantitative information is provided for ACM and its funders within the terms of the agreement.
  • Represent the organisation at relevant meetings, liaise with key stakeholders and deliver promotional information presentations to raise the profile of projects and the working practices of Age Connects Morgannwg.
  • Involve and actively participate in relevant team and group meetings.
  • Promote the services provided by Age Connects Morgannwg.
  • Represent the organisation, at events, seminars etc. and convey a professional and positive image of the organisation.
  • Contribute to the development of Policies and Procedures.
  • Participate in team meetings, appraisals, one to ones and training as required.
  • Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required by the Line Manager.
  • Assist other services/departments within the organisation as and when necessary.
  • Uphold PQASSO standards and demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement.
