Sample analysis is carried out on engines, gearboxes, hydraulics, compressors, and any other mechanical machines which use oil to lubricate the moving parts

Position: Sample Registration Assistant
Location: Conwy, North Wales

About the role:

To register samples received from customers into LlMS. To ensure all data is inputted into the system in an accurate and timely manner for the laboratory to carry out the analysis, compliant with customer and UKAS requirements. To liaise with customers daily in relation to sample queries and deviating samples.

Responsibilities:

- Working as part of a team to register all samples which arrive on site on the day of receipt.
- To adhere to customer requests and process all samples in accordance with these requests ensuring support is provided to the customer where needed.
- Entry and receipt of incoming samples onto LIMS ensuring individual customer requirements are adhered to and the correct analysis is assigned.
- To contact the customer if information is missing e.g. e-mail address for the report to be issued.
- To navigate LIMS and the shared drives to obtain customer information.
- To check that all paperwork associated with the samples is correct.
- To print labels for samples with unique LIMS label system to be despatched to the customer.
- Distribute sample information to the appropriate departments as and when required e.g. informing the German team of samples received for processing.
- To use the priority list to highlight to the laboratory / interpreters clients who's samples must be processed as a priority.
- To work with the customer and techservices team to update and maintain the sample information in the LIMS system.
- To amend sample details and update for retests where a customer request has been made.
- To adhere to priority lists and work schedules as provided by the supervisor to meet customer requirements.
- To take responsibility and ownership for inputting sample details in accordance with customer and UCAS requirements.
- To file and store submission sheets.
- To assist the Team Leader in the training new members of staff.
- To be aware of, and conform to, the Quality System and Health & Safety requirements specific to the work area including ISO 14001.

About you:

- The job holder must be educated to at least GCSE level in, however experience in touch typing would be advantageous.
- Ideally the job holder will have some data inputting experience.
- Good organisational skills and a responsible attitude are essential.
- Previous customer service experience is beneficial along with good telephone manner and the ability to effectively communicate over the telephone, face to face and via email.
- A familiarity with computers is essential including use of Microsoft office packages.
- The job holder needs to be competent with written and spoken English.
- There will a speed typing test to be completed at interview stage. The benchmark score for this will be 40 words per minute.
