Atlas Copco Henrob Limited is a manufacturing company based in Deeside North Wales. We are a pioneer and market leader in self-pierce riveting, a mechanical fastening process suitable for joining aluminium and also mixed materials that cannot be reliably welded. As our Design Engineer you will be expected to produce and maintain drawings which define SPR equipment as well as customer drawings. You will also provide drawing and modelling support for new and existing equipment technology whilst also managing ERN/ECR process and keeping ERP up to date.

Responsibilities of our Design Engineer will include:

- Produce Designs in response to the Design Specification requirements or Change Requests and document Design Analysis

- Produce and issue Component and Assembly models and drawings using Solid Edge CAD package

- Enter (and maintain if necessary) parts and assemblies (BOMs) on to ERP system (Syspro)

- Peer Check drawings for drafting standards, functionality and supporting documentation

- Ensure parts are properly introduced and that the impact of changes are reflected through the product life cycle

- Assist in the development of plans and ensure on time delivery against agreed plans

- Provide support and guidance on manufacturing processes to purchasing and manufacturing teams

- Help develop the standard of drafting within Atlas Copco Henrob Ltd

- Assist in the development and maintenance of Operations and Maintenance manuals

- Communicate with other departments with FEA and Document Control

- Work closely with Projects and Proposals to provide a combined solution for our customers to their specifications

- Provide engineering support to Project teams

Skills and experience required by our Design Engineer:

- Ability to make decisions, use initiative and carry out appropriate actions

- Conscientious, positive attitude to quality and workmanship

- Methodical approach with good attention to detail when planning and carrying out tasks

- Keen to learn new things quickly and have an interest in career development

Essential

- Formal academic qualification in Mechanical Engineering, educated at least to BSc/BEng in Mechanical Engineering

- Minimum of 2 years modelling and drafting experience within a small batch, high value manufactured product environment

- Experienced in the use of Geometric Tolerancing and stack-up analysis

- Able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of Drawing/Part release and Engineering Change Control processes and field implications

- Familiar with CAD systems, CAD administration and the management of CAD/Engineering data

- Good communication skills and be able to produce technical reports to a reasonable standard

- Familiar with Microsoft Office software to a good standard

- Knowledge of and experience of working within an ISO & BS standards

Desirable

- Some experience of MRP systems and business systems

- Experience of Solid Edge user or Solid Works is beneficial

- Worked in an industry supplying machinery for use in a high production environment where reliability of production equipment is high

- Have knowledge and use of links between CAD systems and Analysis Tools

- Be able to read schematic drawings would be beneficial

- Knowledge of pneumatics, electrical components and or hydraulics would be an advantage but not essential.

- An involvement with Design for Manufacture, Value Engineering and/or FMEA would be an advantage but not essential

- Knowledge or experience of Team Centre would be beneficial
