We are seeking an experienced Waking Night Support Worker to join our team at Allt y Cham, a specialist Supported Living Learning Disability service in Pontardawe, situated 9ml from Swansea, 7ml from Neath and a few minutes from the main routes of the M4 & A465.
This charming 18th Century farmhouse is beautifully well presented and has been restored into 3 self contained buildings: The Farm House, The Coach House and The Stables, providing a much loved home to eleven adults with Learning Disabilities, Autism, Challenging Behaviours and Complex Health Needs.
What is this role?
As a Wake Night Staff member you will be on hand to provide support from 7pm - 7am. As the People we Support have complex needs and experience with personal behaviour plans would be advantageous.
We are looking for dynamic support workers, with the ability to adapt and change your demeanour, approach and communication styles - at a moments notice. You are flexible and able to go with the flow whilst prioritising tasks quickly.

Our services operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and many of our service users require support during the night.
Please note our waking night Support Workers are required to be awake and vigilant throughout their night shift, even breaks. You will be required to check on residents as required by their care plans, and provide any support needed. Sleeping on duty is not permitted at any time.
You will be expected to ensure people are supported to gain a good night's sleep, monitoring any concerns in relation to disturbed sleep patterns and follow relevant support plans designed to promote sleep and wellbeing.
You will focus on ensuring the environment at night is safe and contributes to ensuring people are comfortable at night.
Your shifts will be allocated on a rota basis, and will include weekends and bank holidays as required.

Ideal candidate We believe that a successful Support Worker doesn't always have experience, but shares our vision to ensure that 'every moment has potential' for the People we Support to learn new skills and to achieve their goals.
Basic numeracy and literacy skills as well as good English are a must.
An NVQ/Diploma L2 or 3 in Health and Social Care and some experience in care work would be an added bonus, but we have a fantastic in-house training team who can help you along if you are taking your first steps in your career as a support worker.
