The Client

The company is increasingly recognised as a world class provider of engineering services to the utility sector and wider markets, working primarily with electricity distribution networks.

The Role:

Due to increased workload, we have a new vacancy for an experienced SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality) Advisor based at their Deeside office. The main purpose of the role is to provide SHEQ support on a range of contracts including HV network construction and maintenance, OHL inspection works and civil engineering and building maintenance across the North West and Southern Scotland. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the Health, Safety and Environmental strategies throughout the region, as well as advising the business stream about the best SHE practice and implementation.

The Responsibilities:

* Ensuring company systems and processes and complied with via site inspections and audits.

* Monitoring the relevant areas of work for Health & Safety compliance and bringing significant findings to the attention of the senior management team.

* Implementing effective systems to develop a positive safety culture.

* Advising and assisting the relevant work stream on Health, Safety and Environmental issues.

* Developing improved relationships locally with clients.

* Ensuring accident and incident investigations are carried out with all actions followed up and completed.

* Liaising and coordinating with the Group SHEQ Team to ensure consistency throughout the business.

* Attending and presenting at client SHE meetings

* Ensuring all SHE inductions are carried out.

* Monitoring the control of contractors within the region.

* Maintaining personal competence.

* Working in various parties set up from the central SHE team to address specific issues.

* Taking an active part in the continual development of the SHE Management System.

Skills and Experience Required:

* Ideally, at least 3 years' experience in utilities, construction, civils or power sector

* A good understanding of CDM

* Good communicational and organisational skills

* Environmental knowledge

Qualifications Required:

* NEBOSH Certificate

* NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 5

* Environmental Qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH Environmental Certificate)
