New Directions Education are currently looking to appoint a full time cover supervisor for secondary schools in Abergavenny and the surrounding areas. This position is guaranteed full time working the school covering day to day sickness and courses.

Whether you are a teaching assistant looking to progress in your professional development or a sports coach who regularly work with groups of young people. As the offical preferred supplier for all secondary schools across Monouthshire & Powys for the 19/20 academic year, New Directions are able to guarantee full time work from September 2019 for the duration of the academic year.

Job Specification

Working as a Cover Supervisor can be a very rewarding but very demanding role. Schools may wish to employ staff for cover supervision but on occasions where they are not needed for cover, they might also be released to provide additional support to Teachers in classrooms, or to carry out administrative tasks.

Ideally, candidates will be required to:

* Develop curricular knowledge in line with the school requirements

* Apply the school's behaviour management policy and report any difficulties to the class Teacher/senior leadership team

* Set homework in line with the classroom Teacher requirements

* Provide homework under the guidance of the class Teacher

* Administer class tests if requested

* Supervise the work of the Teaching Assistant, providing support if required

* Abide by and work towards all policies within the school, eg - behaviour management, health and safety, equal opportunities

* Carry out pre-prepared exercises in the short term absence of the class Teacher

* Ensure students remain on task through classroom management

* You will not be required to plan lessons, but will have the opportunity to lead the class

* Assisting students where required and ensuring lessons are delivered

* Collect completed work and pass to the class teacher.
