Senior Software Engineer

The Company: You will engage in the new product development process throughout all stages of the product life cycle including the design and development of software and hardware; the generation and review of technical documentation; the verification and testing of new designs; the transfer of designs to manufacturing and the provision of technical support once the products are on the market.

The role shall also include the maintenance of existing software, including all documentation relating to the software being maintained. Tasks include:

* Manage/ supervise software development team to ensure timescales are met

* Generate software development plans

* Generate new software/ firmware using C, C++ and C#

* Liaise with internal and/or external stake holders to define software development project requirements

* Ensure that all software designs meet required industry standards

* Generate and maintain technical specification documentation

* Take an active part in project and technical review meetings such as specification requirement reviews, implementation reviews, code reviews and risk analysis

* Perform verification work using either standard, or bespoke testing equipment

* Keep up to date on current 'state of the art' design methods and tools and make suggestions on process improvements

* Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members

* Provide technical support to other departments

The Candidate: Senior Software Engineer

* Ideally holds a Degree in Software, Electronics, Engineering or Mathematics

* Previous relevant experience in the development of high technology or scientific instrumentation products

* Proven background supporting the introduction of new software products from design/ concept phases through to release

* Fluency in one or more of: 'C' , C++ and C#

* A Project Management qualification (i.e. prince 2) or training, would be highly advantageous
