Package - £50k - £70k + Company Car/Travel Allowance + Bonus

The Company:

Our client, a Developer who have been trading for over 100 years are actively seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their highly experienced team.

This company are a major player in developments across the UK and are involved in some of the most prestigious high-rise projects inclduing Student Accomadation.

They have a great staff retention rate as people who join this company tend to stay there.

This is a key role for the company, and you will be given full autonomy to run with your projects.

The Role: As a Design Manager your responsibilities will include:

Analysing the project requirement, then in conjunction with the operational delivery team, appointing and managing the design teams across all disciplines of the contract.
Managing and controlling the design delivery team and Release Schedule to align with the contract and procurement programmes in conjunction with the commercial and operation delivery teams.
Utilising your construction knowledge and experience to develop innovative and costeffective design solutions in conjunction with the design and operational teams, applyingvalue engineering principles to ensure best value is achieved.
Ensuring the design team produce the right quality, compliant and timely proposals for their respective disciplines against the design criteria set in the contract and Employer's.
Requirements and to satisfy Planning Conditions and Building Regulations.
Developing and maintaining a strong working relationship with the Client and their design team to build confidence and trust in the Ark Build brand.
Working closely with the operational and commercial delivery team throughout to maximise project efficiency.
Training and managing junior staff to promote career development within the company.

The Candidate: A strong candidate will ideally have a construction design background and:

Proven experience working for a contractor or surveying practice in a similar role.
A degree or HND in construction management, design or surveying.
Sound technical construction and building services knowledge developed through education and experience.
An ability to work closely with members of the operational and commercial teams and a strong personality to ensure that right decisions are made for efficient project delivery.
An understanding of site management practices, risks and costs and the nous to ensure that the design team produce practical and economic information.
Excellent IT skills including CAD, Project Commander or similar, Excel and Word.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Effective leadership and management skills.
