Support Worker/Driver

This is a self-employed role, commencing Tuesday 1st October 2019, the first 3 months will be a trial period.
Monday to Friday - Between 35 and 40 hours per week, depending on requirements.  Monday to Thursday in Swansea.
Friday in Carmarthen. (Flexibile)
Rate - £15ph
Petrol is paid at 25p per mile.

Job Outline

Reports to Living with Aspergers.

Living with Aspergers (LWA) is a training and consultancy organisation that provides job coaches and support workers through the Access to Work scheme.

The role is a full time position supporting a client, Mr X, who has dyspraxia and OCD, within his job role as a senior support worker at a homeless charity in Swansea.

We are looking for a relaxed, yet professional person. Someone able to deal with working in a changeable environment, where calm responses are needed to sometimes reactive situations.

The individual must be able to work alongside a well established team, the client has a senior role within.

This role is for a mature individual with life experience, a proven history of reliability, able to be non-judgemental and capable of keeping a level and calm head at all times, even when others are less able.

A key part of this role is to assist Mr X in identifying opportunities where Mr X can pursue his desire to enhance his professional development.

There will be a weeks induction within the company the client works for, so to be fully aware of the clients’ policy and procedures and job role.

LWA can provide support with self employment and associated accountancy queries.

DBS check will be required.

Responsibilities and Duties

Mr X is a visual learner with a keen interest in animation and making information accessible to all, and utilises mind maps and other visual prompts in his work.

  • To support Mr X in all responsibilities and duties, however not undertake the job for him.
  • To transport Mr X to various locations in Swansea and surrounding areas.
  • Attending meetings with Mr X and his clients at various of locations across Swansea.
  • Prompt Mr X to record details of planned review meetings he has with clients of the charity.
  • Ensure Mr X, has available accounts of facts from meetings with a range of professionals with regards to his clients’ progress.
  • Prompt Mr X to identify details recorded from informal discussions with his clients in their home environment.
  • Ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately when Mr X requests input.
  • Checking through formal documents when requested to ensure that Mr X’s grammar, punctuation and recalled facts are accurate.
  • Prompt Mr X with facts when switching between meetings with clients, phone calls, writing reports and liaising with other professionals.
  • Prompting Mr X and helping maintain focus with regards to tasks he was engaged in prior to clients dropping in / phone calls.
  • Linking between management and Mr X to ascertain tasks that Mr X carries are accurate and in line with the charity’s procedures and expectations.
  • Own transport and insurance, essential.
