ITV Cymru Wales Team Assistant Apprentice

Location: Cardiff (3 Assembly Square, CF10 4PL) 

Salary: £18,047 pa

Duration: 13 months including End point Assessment (This is a full time role from Monday to Friday - 37.5 hours per week)

Qualification: Creative & Digital Media, Level 3

ITV Cymru Wales plays a vital role in Welsh life. We are the most popular peak time commercial TV channel in Wales; a national television and digital news service; a centre of excellence for current affairs - in Welsh and English - and a commercially successful producer of programmes for S4C and ITV Network.

At its heart is a talented team of 100 journalists, programme makers, production specialists and apprentices working from a HD digital broadcast centre in Cardiff Bay.

We are now looking for a Team Assistant Apprentice to learn from and work alongside industry professionals in the news and programmes teams at ITV Wales. 

In this role you’ll have a wide variety of responsibilities working closely with - and supporting - our News Production Coordinator and Programme Support Coordinators.  Previous apprentices have progressed into production and editorial roles.

All our apprentices work full time from Monday to Friday, although there may be times when we’ll ask you to work out of hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Office administration, including post

  • Providing support for public events and team meetings

  • Booking travel and accommodation

  • Logging programmes and video material

  • Creating content for marketing and presentations

  • Great with people

  • Confident using Information and Communication software and devices

  • Awareness of current events in Wales

Eligibility 

Due to the nature of this apprenticeship, it would suit school/college leavers from 16 years of age; you are only eligible to apply if:

  • You have lived within the UK/EEA for a minimum of 3 years consecutively 

  • You have at least a Level 1 qualification in Maths and English (GCSE or equivalent, grade D or above) 

  • You have not completed a degree

  • You do not already hold a Level 3 qualification in the same subject

  • Must reside in Wales

If you are shortlisted to the second stage of the recruitment, you will be invited to attend an assessment workshop be held between 14th to 16th August (subject to change). Interviews will be arranged following this on 21st August (subject to change).

The programme will start on the 9th September 2019 followed by a three week placement at Pinewood Studios Wales

Based at Pinewood Studio Wales in Cardiff, the team has more than 100 years combined experience in bilingual media training and production. The Sgil Cymru team have trained over 100 apprentices by working with companies across south Wales including BBC Cymru Wales, Equinox Communications, Golley Slater, ITV Cymru Wales, Real SFX, Amplified Business Content and S4C. Through partnership with ScreenSkills, Sgil Cymru is delivering a package of training courses for the UK film & TV industry.
