Position Overview

To follow the company Quality System ensuring that product supplied to customers is of the highest possible standard. The Quality Technician performs Quality Controls in a way that benefits the site's performance in the areas of Quality, Cost and Delivery.

Essential Job Functions/ Responsibilities
* Undertake all required tests on relevant samples in accordance with the company Quality System and specifications;
* Ensure that relevant traceability paperwork is available and correct;
* Take decisions on relevant stock and entering information on the appropriate stock management system;
* Communication on control results and decisions where necessary;
* Administrative duties including timely completion and filing of records and management of the retainer stores;
* Carrying out relevant preparation, titration, calibration and validation on reagents and/or equipment where appropriate;
* Organising work to ensure customer priorities are met;
* Recording of non-conformances and appropriate follow up and communication;
* Maintaining high housekeeping standards and working to Good Laboratory Practices;
* To support the Quality Department and Manager in any other relevant quality tasks including but not limited to internal audits, training of new staff, preparation of procedures or assisting with investigations.

Qualifications and Experience - Essential
* Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software;
* For Raw Materials - Chemistry Degree
* For Microbiology - Microbiology Degree
* For Packaging - Good standard of education
* Good standard of written English & Mathematics;
* Good communication skill & attitude;
* Understand & use of relevant testing equipment.

Qualifications and Experience - Desirable

Dependent on area of Quality i.e. Chemistry, packaging or microbiology.

Essential Skill Requirements
* Good communication skills & attitude;
* Team player;
* Flexible - able to work outside of core hours to ensure business targets are met;
* Competent & self-motivated.

Other Skills/Abilities - Desirable
* Awareness & experience of modern improvement tools & techniques;
* Data handling / PC skills;
* Able to work under pressure to achieve tight delivery schedules;
* Is able to identify opportunities to implement new ideas and generate creative solutions;
* Relevant industry recognised Quality qualification;
* Experience of working in a chemical, microbiological, biological or pharmaceutical laboratory.

The pay rate is £11.53 + 20% shift allowance when working shifts
