Senior Ecologist - Cardiff

I am currently working with a client based near Cardiff that is highly experienced in Ecological services. They have been established for over 20 years and have a wealth of experience. The founder still works with the company to this day an has grown the company to become one of the most respected Consultancies in the South Wales region. They provide a wide range of Protected Species and Phase 1 habitat surveys as well as EIA services. They are currently looking for a Senior Ecologist to become part of their team.

They want a motivated, self-reliant and adaptable Senior Ecologist to join the team. You will have a good biological degree and at least 3 years' relevant consultancy experience. You will have excellent field skills, hopefully with a focus towards botanical and habitat survey to at least Phase 1 level and preferably to NVC level. Fauna skills are also a highly desirable asset, and a bat and/or dormouse license would be a distinct advantage as would being a full member of CIEEM. You should be comfortable with planning and development matters, and related conservation and ecological policy, and have excellent report-writing, communication, organizational and workplace IT skills.

During your time at this role, you will be required to work some unsocial hours, you will also:

* Carry out ecological surveys and preparing assessment reports of varying kinds;

* Prepare management plans, method statements, mitigation and enhancement strategies, etc;

* Conduct ecology-related planning and development work;

* Applications for protected species licenses;

* BREEAM assessments;

* Commission research for statutory agencies, local authorities and other bodies;

* Be dealing day-to-day with clients, and their agents and contractors;

* Responsible for the management of individual projects and budgets etc;

This employer will be offering you a competitive salary dependent on the level of experience you hold, a pension scheme and a benefits package. If this role is of interest to you or you are looking for roles related to Ecology, Arboriculture, Ornithology or EIA please do not hesitate to contact Steffan Child on (phone number removed) or by email.
