Acorn Recruitment is searching for an experienced, dynamic and driven Production Manager to join a specialist manufacturer in Newport, South Wales.

The Production Manager will be required to manage all aspects of manufacturing activity within area of responsibility, with full accountability for creating an efficient and cost effective planning, co-ordination and ring production facility, ensuring expected quality, on time delivery and standards are adhered too.

Key responsibilities:

•To oversee the efficient manufacturing of product, ensuring delivery to customer on

time in full (OTIF) at the right specification including cost and quality.

•Understanding the technical and legislative elements associated with your area of

responsibility and ensure compliance.

•Using Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and standard processes to ensure that

committed goals and improvements are achieved, communicating with your team the

priorities, targets and achievement rates to help drive improvements.

•Driving and improving the performance of your area, working with other functions to

maximise efficiencies in terms of equipment, processes and people.

•Creating a culture that encourages and promotes continuous improvement across all

aspects of the working environment.

•Creating, leading and motivating a team that is trained and competent to deliver the

business requirements both in the short to medium term.

•Responsible for all aspects of people management relating to your area of

responsibility, involving HR as necessary, including but not limited to recruitment,

performance management, disciplinary, absence management, employee communication and

engagement.

•Proactively managing all HS&E aspects that relate to your area ensuring compliance

to process and adherence to ISO 18001 Standards.

•Responsible for agreeing, controlling and monitoring budgetary measures including

Headcount, Productivity, Sickness Absence and Overtime etc ensuring targets are

achieved.

•Balancing load and capacity planning, working with Supply Chain and/or Purchasing to

ensure the creation of credible plans to satisfy and deliver customer orders as

efficiently and cost effectively as possible.

•Ensuring the quality levels are to the required standard and continuously developed

through all methods including regular quality reviews.

•Ensuring output/financial targets are achieved as per budgeted plan.

•Ensuring NPI trials are fully supported and act as chair of pre-production/post

production reviews between functions.

Technical expertise:

•Demonstrates a firm command of technology deployed and end use applications.

•Relevant scientific knowledge and experience of EMS Processes.

•Technical understanding of cost levers and drivers.

•Continuous Understands the overall business objectives and customer expectations.

•Continuous improvement and problem solving skills.

•Project Management skills.

Processing and organisational knowledge:

•Leverages process and organizational knowledge to support business goals.

•Builds Relationships within the company's organisation to optimize available

resources.

•Builds strategic relationships outside organization to keep up with best practices.

•Uses processing knowledge to help impact the company's bottom line.

•Shares processing and organisational knowledge across the business.

Process optimisation

•Understands management accounting in detail.

•Uses established KPI's to manage processes.

•Helps to establish and promote performance management initiatives.

•Offers expertise in development of any new process manufacturing KPI's.

•Uses process mapping to support Process optimization.

•Root cause analysis.

•Initiates capital application based on sound principles and investigation.

Core requirements:

•Excellent leadership, motivation and team building skills.

•Experience and sustainable success of managing change through a business/site.

•Experience of active strategic input.

•The ability to develop relationships inside and outside the organisation to enhance

personal and company effectiveness.

•The ability to clearly identify bottlenecks within a manufacturing process, capable

of quickly interpreting and "owning" the process and able to extrapolate the detail.

•Highly KPI orientated - capable of achieving over and above expectations, use the

information to create further business growth/development.

•Customer orientation - realisation of who the customer is, strives to over deliver

in all areas and experience of delivering change across the business.

•Qualified to HND level or above in a Manufacturing or Production Engineering

discipline.

•Understanding and compliance of ISO 9001/AS9100 NADCAP and other standard EMS /CEM

required processes.

•Actively listens and shares information and knowledge with others in a timely

manner.

•Ensuring that appropriate information has been received and understood and ensures

supervisor and team are aware of any changes or potential issues.

•The ability to influence (upwards, peers, downwards).

•Demonstrates the flexibility and adaptability to be successful in a changing

environment.
