DevOps Engineer based in central Cardiff
Excellent salary & package including unlimited holidays

We're helping scale the technical team for a tech first company based in central Cardiff and on the lookout for a talented Engineer who never says no to a challenge and wants to learn lots of new skills!
Cutting through all the nonsense, yes, it's a devops role but we're really open to seeing a range of applications at a range of experience levels it doesn't have to be someone ticking 100% of the boxes, it could even be someone who has leant towards development in the past, maybe even from a software engineering background that wants to make a change!

What you'll be doing:
As a DevOps Engineer you'll be working within a few different workstreams, however, you'll be largely responsible for managing the clients Linux systems, most of which are multi-instance AWS installations hosted in VPCs. Since it is critical that these systems are secure you will also be establishing and maintaining the integrity of the servers against malicious attacks!

Other responsibilities include:
* Increase efficiency, quality, and reduce human intervention on any task with automation
* Supporting highly available 24/7 production applications
* Work closely with the Dev team during the application development process to identify and
implement infrastructure requirements through to deployment
* Participate in the architecture, engineering, planning, upgrade and maintenance of all infrastructure

About you:
We're looking for someone whos got a great attitude and is passionate about learning the company is tech agnostic so prior experience with all these technologies is not essential, but as a guideline have a look through their stack for what you can learn -
* Linux (Ubuntu)
* Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, ELB, IAM, VPC)
* Ansible
* Terraform
* Operating-system-level virtualization (LXD, Docker)
* CI/CD e.g. Jenkins
* PHP, Node.js, Python, Ruby or similar

If you're a DevOps Engineer you may have some experience of CI/CD as well as medium scale (100-1000 host) cloud environments. Theres plus points for any experience with Encryption / sensitive data, Backups and Disaster Recovery as well as Systems Architectures

In a nut shell though if you have experience with Linux and the AWS ecosystem, and want to learn more about devops, automation, architecture and orchestration tools then get in touch!

About them:
The company use agile delivery models with modern software development techniques including iterative development, test automation, continuous integration and automated infrastructure - There's no trace of complicated, legacy infrastructure hold-backs here!

Still here? Good!
The unlimited holiday / flexible work from home option probably brought you into the advert and if you got this far congrats! In a nut shell it's a common-sense approach - wherever possible they allow you to determine your own schedule and work environment.

Whether you need to finish early for leisure, shorten your commute during the week, provide regular or ad hoc child care, or simply prefer a productive morning working from home, their flexible working policy enables this!

The same goes for the leave as they actively encourage breaks, they just ask you to be communicative and considerate of each other when doing so, and conscious about accountability and the impact on the team (basically don't take the p*ss!)

For more details please apply for an initial call back regarding the role / your experience or call Jonathan Edwards on 02920 252500 for a confidential chat and more information on the role.
