Support Workers - Cardiff or Barry

Fantastic opportunity to Support Adults with Learning disabilities and / or mental health issues in a residential setting.

Whilst Experience is desirable it is not essential as training is provided on the job. Experience and qualifications such as QCF in health and social care will help decide the pay grade.

Driving Licence with 2 years driving experience is preferred, to enable you to drive our vehicles but is not essential.

Positions main base will be decided at Interview we have a few homes in Cardiff with vacancies as well as one in Barry.

Full Time, Part Time and Relief  hours available.   
Agreed contracted hours, to include evenings, week-ends, bank holidays, wake-in and sleep-in duties.

The role is to work as part of a team providing care and support to individuals with learning disabilities and / or mental health needs within one of our small (maximum six bed) care homes in Cardiff or Barry.

You will support them going about their daily lives, providing personal care where necessary and supporting them in a way that promotes their independence, enabling them to achieve their goals.

This includes:

  • Assisting individuals where necessary with their personal care needs, including eating, washing / bathing, toileting needs, dressing and undressing, mobility and transport, etc.  
  • Helping the individuals in our care to make their own choices and supporting them to carry out activities.  

  • Acting as an advocate promoting each service users wellbeing, safety and quality of life.

  • Supporting individuals out in the community to access education, community and leisure activities as appropriate.

  • Keeping appropriate records in line with company policies. Participating in team meetings and house meetings.

  • Attending any training courses required and work towards agreed objectives to develop your own skills and experience.

  •  Cleaning duties as part of the team, undertaking any general domestic chores, or supporting individuals to carry out such duties.

  • Helping with menu planning, shopping and cooking for the home as part of the staff team.

  • Administering medication to individuals following appropriate training and in line with company procedures.

  •  Following care and management guidelines and reporting back as necessary. Acting in accordance with company policies and procedures.
