What is special about this opportunity?

30 hours per week.

A full driving license and access to a vehicle is essential for this role.

For this role you will require an enhanced DBS check which we will pay for

The independent living services support people to live independently in their own homes. Support is flexible and tailored to meet each person’s needs. We endeavour to provide support that will empower people to live a valued and fulfilling life. The services can provide support from a few hours a week to every day. Supporting vulnerable adults and people with a variety of needs such as learning disabilities and mental health. Across Newport, Caerphilly, Abergavenny, Chepstow and Monmouthshire.

How can I make a difference?

You'll be given the opportunity to work with adults who have complex health needs such as autism and epilepsy and work with some behaviours that challenge.

You will provide support in the following areas:

* Daily living skills – Cooking, Cleaning, using appliances.
* Staying safe around the home and in the community – fire safety, road safety, using public transport.
* Healthy lifestyles – eating healthy, exercise
* Meal planning and shopping
* Emotional support
* Employment – voluntary and paid.
* Training and education – what is available and may support individual to attend a course
* Managing finances and budgeting – May be weekly support to pay bill’s, assess money.
* Community inclusion – Groups, Church
* Attending appointments – GP, Dental, Hospital. Supporting people to understand what is being said.

Who are we looking for?

Don’t worry if you haven’t worked in this field before – some of our best people have no previous experience.

You'll have good written and verbal communication skills as you will be responsible for developing individual support plans and risk assessments.

You'll have the ability to work independently and be organised.
