An exciting and unique opportunity to develop an innovative programme that makes a real difference to the lives of people with disabilities in Wales.

About the Role

Leonard Cheshire has created and run a highly successful pilot programme that more effectively delivers outstanding support and gives greater choices to people with disabilities in receipt of direct payments including those in day centres or supported living.

After the successful pilot in one Local Authority (LA) in Wales, we now have funding to roll out this co-operative model across all 22 LAs in Wales.

The programme pools the hours of each person in the co-operative and creates a menu of increased options, via a fully accessible private web tool, that enables them to choose the activities they wish to participate in.  The activities on offer are all chosen and set up by the co-operative.  Each person then chooses the activities they want to do each week, and, even more importantly, when, where and with whom they want to participate. They are also able to choose their staffing preferences as staffing profiles are matched to individual needs and are also shown on the webtool.  This innovative programme gives genuine choice and control to individuals, allowing them to choose how they achieve their outcomes in life and enabling them to control for themselves how they live, learn and develop skills and learning.

In this role you will lead and manage a team of Co-ordinators to deliver these user-led services, ensuring the quality and consistency of project delivery and performance against key objectives and targets and focusing on it making a difference to all the people with disabilities in receipt of direct payments who choose to join their co-operative.

You will also lead on and actively develop and promote the wider project through marketing and networking with other potential users, inviting them to join the co-operative.

About You:

You will be a dynamic, innovative person able to lead on the promotion and delivery of this incredible programme across your area.  You will bring project management skills enabling you to set up, co-ordinate and deliver this programme.  You will have experience of working with people with disabilities and of leading a geographically dispersed team.

You will have excellent communication skills and be able to engage with a wide range of people in order to promote and sell this programme to potential customers.
