Do you have excellent communication skills, with an enthusiastic and positive outlook? Would you like to support people with mental health needs to live independently in their own flats in Caerphilly?

What is special about this opportunity?

Tŷ Anwen is a residential mental health service in Caerphilly. We provide recovery-orientated rehabilitation within a person-centred framework. Support is available for up to 16 individuals with serious and enduring mental illness. The team at Tŷ Anwen work to a relational security model of care and support that provides effective therapeutic boundaries. They provide clearly identified outcomes, thereby working towards recovery and facilitating independence.

For this role you will require an Enhanced DBS check, which we pay for.

This post is for 24 hours per week.

How can I make a difference?

This role involves

* Supporting people to live everyday lives
* Support and prompting with medication
* Meal preparation
* Social activities
* Providing social and emotional support
* Shopping and domestic duties such as laundry and general housekeeping tasks
* Undertake relevant training for the role

Who are we looking for?

A background of working with people with mental health needs is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided. More important are;

* Excellent communication skills, with an enthusiastic and positive outlook
* The desire to support people living independently in their own flats
* Ability to respond to people’s emotional, psychological, social and spiritual needs
* The confidence to work alone in a sometimes challenging environment, using your own initiative
* The desire to develop skills, undertaking appropriate training courses when offered
