THE ROLE

Due to continued growth, we are pleased to be able to offer an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Senior Estimator based on our site in Cardiff, Wales. Working as part of a dynamic and innovative team, you will be technically savvy whilst managing, leading, co-ordinating and completing any Bid/Proposal Documentation to the highest standard.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Market the Company’s services by ensuring the company is on tender lists with all main contractors

  • Visit prospective clients as required
  • Write and keep up-to-date, as required, the company’s capability statements
  • Assist with pre-qualification documents

In preparation of Tenders:

  • Work scope schedules
  • Conceptual foundations designs (if required) for estimating purposes
  • Carry out enquiry “Risk Analysis”
  • Review the “Conditions of Contract”
  • Draft tender proposal prices
  • Submit tenders including ‘bills of quantities,’ covering letter, Terms & Conditions etc. (following discussion with a Director where appropriate)
  • Liaise with internal and external designers, suppliers and contractors in advance and, where necessary, tender submission
  • Write and keep up-to-date Company’s Terms & Conditions of Tender and Company’s Schedule of Attendances
  • Write and maintain the Company’s enquiry tracking database including allocation of enquiry and contract numbers
  • Write and maintain bespoke estimating software
  • Create and maintain plant, materials and labour database for estimating purposes
  • Write and maintain automated letter writing software, including review of insertable standard paragraphs
  • Prepare and monitor estimating and tender statistics
  • Support in negotiating settlement of variations and claims to contracts

Ensure during contract negotiation with prospective clients:

  • An agreed final tender value is negotiated
  • Payment terms and conditions are set
  • Applicable contact terms and conditions are in place
  • Review, respond to and accept all customer orders where possible, before commencement of work
  • Liaise with commercial team and project team

  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Experienced in coaching and motivating others
  • Organised, able to constantly reappraise timescales and priorities to meet deadlines
