REPORTS TO: Head of HSEQ

WORKING HOURS: 40 hours p/w

THE ROLE

A vacancy has arisen for a Welsh speaking HSEQ Advisor on a 4-month Fixed Term basis, to act as cover, provide advice and support the business to ensure a safe working environment for all staff, contractors and visitors. For the right individual, there is potential for extensions, and progression into other areas of the business.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Drive positive culture change within the business
  • Investigating/ recording incidents, accidents, complaints and cases of ill health
  • Attend client meetings/ Safety Stand Down event and ‘lessons learnt’ reviews
  • Complete and communicate HSE reports
  • Attend management meetings in the absence of the Head of HSEQ
  • Compiling Health and Safety & Environmental Statistics
  • Carrying out presentations to groups of employees/ managers
  • Compile risk assessments and COSHH assessments
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented
  • Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation
  • Record incidents and accidents, and produce statistics for managers
  • Ensuring up to date knowledge of any new or proposed legislation, and maintain a working knowledge of all Health & Safety Executives (HSE) initiatives and any developments that affect the industry
  • Attend institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) seminars and read professional journals
  • Produce manage reports, newsletters, safety alerts and bulletins
  • Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERTISE

  • Clean Driving Licence (required)
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (required)
  • Membership to IOSH (minimum of Technical Member – TechIOSH) (required)
  • Rail/ Civils site experience (required)
  • IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management (desirable)
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (desirable)
  • Experience in managing and leading culture change (desirable)
  • Environmental Management experience (desirable)
