Freelance Assessor - Quality for All (QfA) - West Wales

Freelance Assessor

Reporting to: Quality for All (QfA) Co-ordinator

Hours: Variable

Rate of Pay: 

  • £120 Initial Accreditation
  • £72 Re-accreditation
  • Plus, Travel Expenses @ 45p per mile

Location:  Home based

Closing date: Monday 15th October 2018

Purpose of Role:     

To assess childcare providers on their high-quality standards, enabling them to achieve Wales PPA’s quality assurance scheme, Quality for All, (QfA).


  • Complete assessment plans based on providers evaluation forms
  • Liaise with provider
  • Carry out an assessment and write it up
  • Submit the written account and liaise with QfA co-ordinator to complete the assessment
  • Attend at least 3 assessment meetings per year


  • Identify opportunities to enhance the scheme that will support providers and increase the Association’s profile
  • Promote aims and principles of Wales PPA wherever possible
  • Feedback compliments and complaints and suggestions to QfA co-ordinator


  • Keep aware of developments and best practice in the early years childcare and play sector
  • Take responsibility for your own Continuous Professional Development




  • Have 2 years’ post qualifying experience
  • Have knowledge of good practice in the childcare sector including CIW and Estyn regulation frameworks.
  • Experience as an assessor in a childcare environment Desirable:
  • Have knowledge of UK and WG strategies and initiative in the early years childcare and play sector
  • Previous experience as a mentor and / or tutor
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Welsh culture
  • Knowledge of the work of Wales PPA would be an advantage



  • Recognised assessor qualification (A1, A2, TAQA)
  • Recognised Early Years qualification – CCLD level 3 or equivalent


  • Recognised childcare/playwork qualification L4 and above.
