Quality Engineer

You will be responsible for the monitoring of and driving through of improvements in the quality performance of the supply base. Working with suppliers; implement improvements to eliminate internal rejects, customer rejects and warranty returns. Management of the warranty returns process . Strong supplier quality experience would be ideal £30-35,000+ dep on experience. Loads of training as required. You must be team orientated and adaptable
Be the main interface between the company and its suppliers for both internal and customer quality issues:
Drive continuous quality improvement at new and existing suppliers
Monitor key suppliers against quality objectives and initiate improvement actions when necessary.
Vendor appraisal of new and existing suppliers
Work with suppliers to generate quality documentation (e.g. PPAP) as required by our customers.
Progress root cause identification, containment and corrective actions with suppliers through 8D principles.
Travel to supplier locations as required.
Manage the warranty returns process
Confirm claim validity by carrying out basic fault finding
Liaise with suppliers to identify root cause
Work with suppliers to implement countermeasures
Generate regular status reports for the management team
Feedback results to customers
Negotiate claims with customers when necessary
Support customer facing quality engineers when required.

Supplier performance reports
Specific Qualifications:
HNC / HND in a mechanical / electrical discipline, or equivalent experience.
ISO 9001 auditor.
Previous Work Experience:
Good general quality engineering experience, both customer and supplier (SQA) facing in a manufacturing / automotive environment
Experience with working with ISO 9001
Good standard of electrical / electronic knowledge
Experience of customer and automotive or similar industry systems and procedures including ISO 9001, ISO14001, TS16949, APQP, PPAP, etc
Show understanding of ISIR, capability requirements, gauging concepts
Confident presentation skills. Ability to present information clearly and confidently to both individuals and groups.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent computer skills; MS Office experience.
Structured root cause / corrective action methodology (ability to identify problems and develop and implement actions to resolve them) e.g. 8D process.
Strong analytical skills
Ability to audit to ISO 9001 standards and implement appropriate action plans
Ability to audit potential and existing suppliers.
Proven ability to work at / with multiple levels of the organisation
Ability to co-ordinate multiple projects / activities at one time
Travel to work from Newport, Bridgend, Cardiff, Ebbw Vale, Merthyr, Blackwood, Cwmbran
