Electrical Design Engineer

This is a Product Design role working as point of contact for all electrical related disciplines across NPI and customer field support, the electrical design engineer is responsible for the specification, design, test and validation of product systems which typically including blower motors, actuators, temperature sensors, motor speed controllers and System ECU controllers. Mechatronic or Electrical Engineering is essential. Strong Mechatronic Engineering experience is essential
• Imparting electrical knowledge to employees within the company, running internal training courses on various key technologies and creating supporting training documentation
.• Being responsible for electrical and control related topics within the NPI projects running in the UK.• Review customer specifications and other to determine requirements and/or feasibility for the product.• Designing to the requirements of both customer and regulatory standards including EMC and Environmental.
• Participate in DFMEA and DRBFM processes in relation to electrical components and sub-systems.• Designing and 2D drafting of electrical harnesses in line with system requirements•
Participate in engineering design reviews as required.• Interact with vendors and customers on engineering design issues. Communicate with suppliers to understand capabilities and ensure cost effective solutions.
Participate in the development of control strategy and control specifications. Intercompany support• Work with US and China Mechatronics teams to ensure effective knowledge transfer of mechatronic components.
• Participate in Commodity specialist review meetings with US, China and Spain colleagues. Customer / Quality support• Give support to the quality department with regards to field warranty claims
.• Field visits to support the customer in identifying root causes.
• Running 8D analysis reports on component issues and resolving for closure. Test and Validation support• Creating executing test and validating plans for products and components, documenting the results.• Create validations plans for system performances. Work with customers to develop the system performance to their satisfaction.• Create Gap analysis on customer electrical requirements to identify current non compliances. Then create a work verification plan to close the issue.
• Plan for external test house compliance tests to be performed as per customer/ legislative requirements.• Design and build prototype testing equipment and arrange for parts to be purchased ready for build .Existing products:•
Work in Cross Functional Cost Reduction Teams where required.• Conduct reviews on existing products in order to reduce manufacturing and / or material costs.• Conduct reviews on existing products with a view to improving the performance.• Conduct Engineering Changes to existing products.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives:• Participation as an individual or team member in continuous improvement initiatives in all areas and functions of the company.
• Graduate calibre desirable – Ideally having a Degree in a discipline relevant to the role
e• Design Engineers with an alternative qualification in Electrical Engineering and some relevant experience will be considered for the position.

• Experience of working within an automotive industry is desirable but not essential.• >3 years experience working within a design/development environment• Graduate calibre desirable – Ideally having a Degree in a discipline relevant to the role• Design Engineers with an alternative qualification in Electrical Engineering and some relevant experience will be considered for the position. Use of the Creo 3D Cad package or similar is a distinct advantage but not essential. Mechatronic or Electrical Engineering is essential
