We are recruiting for enthusiastic waiting staff who have an excellent knowledge and understanding of great customer service, food and wine.

Position: Waiting staff

Salary: £8.50/£11.00 per hour depending on experiences, plus tips. 

Restaurant: The Old Custom House Penarth

Reports to: General Manager and Owner

Location: Penarth


The main role of your job as a waiter/waitress is to ensure a smooth service, taking into account both La Marina & El Puerto service standards; Greet customers and sit them to their table, explain the concept of our restaurant, offer a wine menu, answer any questions about lunch specials or wines, processes drink orders, carries food and drinks from kitchen or bar to table, and prepares bills and process payments. 

Waitress/ Waiter Job Duties

  • Greets customers on arrival 
  • Introduces customers to their seats and explain to them the concept of our restaurant and how to order
  • Provide customers with a wine menu 
  • Answers questions regarding the wine menu, special boards or A La Carte Counter
  • Take customers' drink orders 
  • Serves drinks to customers
  • Collect food orders from the kitchen, verifies that they are correct, and serve them to customers
  • Ensures that customers are satisfied with their meals and process additional orders/courses if necessary.
  • Removes used dishes, glasses, and flatware from tables
  • Provides customers with dessert boards, take orders and prepare desserts.
  • Prepares cheques and delivers them to customers
  • Processes cash and credit card payments and returns change to customers if necessary
  • Sets tables with glasses, and flatware and refills condiments
  • Maintains familiarity with menu items, specials, wines and restaurant information
  • To attend monthly staff training and meetings.
