What is special about this opportunity?

Dyfrig House provides supported housing for 21 adults motivated to change their substance dependency issues. This provision is a 24-hour support in a ‘dry’ setting. We offer a service-user-led programme aimed to empower and enable individuals to make lifestyle choices to ultimately achieve a drug/alcohol free life. We also offer floating support service to 12 individuals in our move-on accommodation.

The role will be varied and involve working with vulnerable people to prevent homelessness and develop skills needed to maintain their tenancies, change negative behaviour, maintain their health and wellbeing, progress to independent living and make appropriate choices.

This is a permanent post at 37 hours per week.

For this role you will require an Enhanced DBS check, which we pay for.

How can I make a difference?

Our team works to support service users to develop the key skills to achieve positive progression and to re-settle in the community. Project Workers are expected to lead each shift and to direct the work of scheme support officers.

You will:

* Work with people to truly make a difference in their life
* Use your skills and talents to engage with people
* Support people to achieve their potential
* Develop your networking skills by working in partnership with external agencies

Who are we looking for?

You will have experience of working with service users that have substance misuse issues or working with the homeless. This role requires flexibility along with enthusiasm, motivation and creativity. You need the ability to work on your own initiative in a busy and dynamic role as well as a being a positive team player. This role is for a passionate individual who believes they can make a difference to our service users. You will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

The ideal candidate will have:

* Experience of working face to face with homeless or substance misuse issues
* Ability to give advice and support in a sensitive and practical manner
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure
* Ability to deal with a crisis effectively and efficiently
