Operations Manager

Location: Cardiff, Memory Lane Cakes
Work Days: Monday - Friday 37.5 - flexibility required for the nature of 24/7 business.
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary range: £38,000 - £45,000 per annum (depending on experience) + Competitive Benefits Package

We are excited to be offering an opportunity to be an Operations Manager / Business Unit Manager at Memory Lane Cakes. You will be part of the site operational management team and we are looking for someone that is proactive, conscientious, thrives in a busy and constantly changing environment, and who displays effective leadership qualities at all times as well as show strong team working.

Purpose of the Role

The role will have responsibility for a department within the bakery and will drive the plans based on our operational requirements. Continuous improvement, performance and profitability of the department is key and prioritising people is key to its success.

Some of the Role Key Accountabilities are:

  • To effectively lead shift based manufacturing teams in line with company values
  • To deliver on operational key performance indicators (such as materials, labour costs, overheads, waste)
  • To deliver the factory plans and supports the team to ensure continuous improvement activity is in place to drive year on year improvements.
  • To lead product quality delivery and make sure GMP standards are adhered to.
  • To ensure compliance with company and legal standards (safety, quality, hygiene, environment and security), ensuring the site is audit ready at all times.
  • Ability to communicate an inspired vision for teams in line with the site’s vision and plans using effective people management strategies
  • Encourage collaborative and positive working relationships with all teams across site.
  • Leading in a fast moving and constantly changing environment, balancing the demands of customers, management and staff at all times

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience of operating in an FMCG environment is essential
  • Experience of managing a large production site, ideally in a diverse & unionised environment, working with complex products and processes.
  • Experience as a strong leader who is able to show a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Effective people management capabilities that drives engagement and performance of our workers is essential
  • Ability to demonstrate gravitas and strong interpersonal skills with excellent communication (written and verbal), presenting and influencing
  • Strong team working qualities is essential, and able to demonstrate cross collaboration qualities
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills, able to manage priorities and workflow, able to multi task with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates a solution focused approach to operations
  • Must be ready for a challenge and able to work well under pressure
