Commercial Financial Accountant

Location: Cardiff

Hours: 37 a week

The Opportunity

An exciting fixed term role (9-12 months) has become available in Wales & West Housing Association’s finance department, supporting the Commercial Financial Manager in delivering insightful financial reporting and analysis and enforcing robust financial controls within the Wales & West Group.

We are seeking an experienced, qualified accountant with a proactive approach who will be able to quickly familiarise themselves with the diverse activities within the Wales & West Group, primarily focusing on the subsidiary companies Cambria Maintenance Services Limited and Castell Ventures Limited.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential as, although this role will not have any direct reports, it will require the candidate to work collaboratively with colleagues both within the Finance department and from other departments/companies within the group.

The role will be broad in nature but will primarily involve:

  • Ensuring strong financial controls over the subsidiary companies, including review of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Overseeing the timely production of monthly management accounts
  • Preparing reports to Board
  • Ensuring intra-group transactions and loans are accurately recorded and balances are fully reconciled on a timely basis
  • Overseeing external billing and collection

For your application to be successful you must be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Relevant professional financial qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA)
  • Be able to work with minimal supervision and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to communicate and build productive relationships at all levels
  • Critical eye for detail with an analytical approach
  • To have designed, produced and presented financial reports
