Ty Ynysawdre,  situated in Ynysawdre, is a state of the art Extra Care and Residential Care facility due to open in the autumn of 2018. 

Our extra care model allows frail older people to live independently in their own self-contained apartment, with access to a home care service permanently based on site. Each scheme will also contain a residential care unit operated by the local authority, to which we will provide catering services.

The schemes consist of apartments, hairdressing salon, communal space for social activities, spa room and restaurant facilities.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, positive, customer-focussed catering professional, willing to help us provide an excellent day to day catering service for our residents.

Duties will include, but not limited, to:

  • Supporting the Chef Manager in liaising with staff to produce nutritious, high quality, well presented meals to all residents on a daily basis.
  • Deputising for the Chef Manager in their absence, overseeing the work of the catering staff and general kitchen management, with duties including ordering, serving, and leading the team.
  • To set by personal example, using excellent food standards.
  • Work to Health and Safety and environmental health standards.

What skills do I need to have?

You will be required to have a real passion for food, and a desire to build a successful career for yourself within catering. You will need to have experience of working within a professional, fresh food kitchen environment, and already possess basic catering qualifications at or equivalent to QCF / NVQ Level 2.

You will also enjoy working in a team and have a positive, inclusive attitude to supporting your colleagues and the residents. You will also take pride in cleanliness and organisation on shift, understanding that Health and Safety and Food Safety are essential in the workplace.

  • You will be working 25 hours per week, typically 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. This will include working weekends and bank holidays, including Christmas.
  • The hours are great, typically 9am-2.30pm, though some earlier or later starts may be required.
  • There are no split shifts involved with this position, so there’s a good work/life balance.
