Hygiene Operative

Location: Cardiff, MLC
Work Days: 4 days on 4 off, 6am - 6pm
Rate of pay: £7.83 per hour

We are excited to be offering an opportunity to become a Hygiene Operative here at Memory Lane Cakes. The successful candidate will be part of the Technical team, undertaking an important role within the business. We are looking for someone that is proactive, conscientious and diligent who will meet the standards required on site.

Purpose of the Role

Ensure smooth operational running of the hygiene department in line with company policies and procedures

Some of the Role Key Accountabilities (including but not limited to) are:

Support Hygiene Manager and Team members (as applicable) to deliver an excellent hygiene service in line with production plans

  • Good communication skills with hygiene team members and cell leaders

Line Team / Pot & Tray Wash / Weekend Team and Deep Cleaning Team

  • Ensure the effective cleaning of fillers, lines, trays, tins etc and associated areas, i.e. environmental and deep cleaning requirements throughout the factory. This will involve stripping down machinery lifting and carrying of chemical solution and equipment
  • Ensure an effective handover between hygiene and production, remaining in the workplace until relief takes over
  • Completes all documentation ensuring it is up to date and available (whether manual or computerised). Ensures working area is cleaned before signing against cleaning schedules
  • To comply with all training requirements to facilitate and ensure the delivery of a first class service to production whilst ensuring competency to perform allocated jobs
  • Lead by example encouraging appropriate behaviour standards in support of company values and culture
  • Suggest ideas for reducing costs/waste or improving performance/efficiencies
  • Responsible for the standard of hygiene/clean in accordance with the training delivered.
  • Awareness of the critical control points and ensure that standards are adhered to
  • Signing of worksheets only after standards have been achieved
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with Food Safety and Quality Systems

Laundry & Ancillary Team

  •  Tidy and replenish overalls and coats
  •  Collect all soiled coats from all locker rooms
  •  Dust and sweep mens and ladies locker rooms
  •  Check stock from suppliers into laundry
  •  Clean main entrance and stairs to laundry
  •  Empty bins in Technical Dept and clean office on late shift

Yard Team

  •  Clean silos to schedule and report any insect infestation to the Technical Dept
  •  Clean rapeseed station according to CIC cards
  •  Keep yard area tidy
  •  Cut back vegetation around site perimeter
  •  Assist with furniture removal across site
  •  Clean bins and dolavs for return to factory
  •  Manage Interceptor

Personal Attributes:

We are looking for someone that has the following behaviours, Skills & Experience

Previous experience of working in a fast paced manufacturing environment is desirable. Working on own initiative, and to be able to work and contribute as part of a team is essential

  • H&S & Food Safety Legislation
  • Problem solving techniques
  • Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement skill would be advantageous
  • Experience of working to set targets and deadlines
