Temporary Centre Manager, ACT Outdoors Ltd

Ynys Hywel Activity Centre, in the heart of the beautiful Sirhowy Valley, is looking for a dynamic individual with a passion for outdoor education to join our team.

The Centre Supervisor will be responsible for the efficient running of operations at the centre, to include:

  • Management and delivery of industry leading outdoor activities
  • Responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of all individuals using the facility
  • Overseeing the development and direction of the centre, in line with the needs of the stakeholders
  • Working alongside the Technical Advisor and AALA to exceed standards set by the relevant governing bodies
  • Responsibility for the training and development of instructional staff

The successful candidate will need to have relevant experience working within an outdoor centre/business, alongside:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Outdoor Adventurous Activities, preferably at a centre
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Safety management and compliance experience
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Practical hands on approach
  • Full driving licence
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Demonstrated effective communication & interpersonal skills
  • The ability to deal effectively with community, customers and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated high levels of initiative
  • MT Rock Climbing Instructor Award
  • BCA Local Cave & Mine Leader Award, to include Porth Yr Ogof
  • Gorge Walking Experience
  • Mountain Leader Award

Experience with Adventure Activity Licensing Authority and Pupil Referral Unit students desirable.

A fantastic opportunity for any individual who would like the progress to a centre supervisor type role.

Salary: £20,000 a year + benefits + continual training/ development

37.5 hours a week flexible over 7 days

This is a temporary vacancy for a minimum of 6 months with possibility of extension.
