Senior Buyer
Merthyr Tydfil

Smart Solutions are currently looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to work with our successful client based in Merthyr Tydfil area.

Purpose of the Role

The Senior Buyer is responsible for ensuring that the materials for the required construction projects are provided to schedule and according to project budgets. They are to ensure that the most cost effective and appropriate materials are procured to ensure profitability without decreasing quality standards
Key Responsibilities, Tasks & Result Areas

• Provide prices for all materials included in project plans and drawings.
• Ensure Product availability at launch of each new project in-line with business objectives.
• Manage supply chain to balance demand v/s supply and to meet company objectives with respect to revenue attainment, margin target and inventory level.
• Conducts re-sourcing exercises whilst maintaining continuity of supply to meet requirements in the event of non-acceptable price, service or quality performance.
• Requests quotes and samples for evaluation of potential new suppliers.
• Accepts responsibility for obtaining materials, assisting with the resolution of supply problems, by direct personal contact with top supplier management, and assisting suppliers in the procurement of scarce material.
• Work closely with operations to manage lead-time, capacity, and optimise supply position throughout the entire supply chain.
• Contributes in conjunction with specialist functions, in solving design, quality and costing problems.
• Monitor inventory levels to determine required demand and adequate stock levels.
• Demonstrate strong negotiation skills and an ability to analyse cost data and quickly assimilate supplier processes, in order to drive achievement of Value for Money.
• Manage suppliers with price discrepancies, damaged or returned material, logistics and other supply issues.
• Communicate and work with the accounting department on any payable issues.
• Maintain key policies and procedures.
• To research, identify and select suppliers that improve commercial, quality, delivery and technology performance, in-line with established Purchasing processes.
• Develop and deliver Commodity Strategies for future sourcing.
• Demonstrate a confident approach to teamwork and provide purchasing/commercial input into cross-functional teams that effectively contributes to the organisation's goals.
• Communicate timely and accurate material or production issues that affect ability to meet the master schedule or that affect current scheduled production activities.
• Ideally, have a thorough understanding of Quality Approval processes.

Qualifications
B.A Degree or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years supply chain experience.

• Proficient in MS Office suite, to include: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe,
• Proficient in Sage
• Excellent numeracy skills
• Good analytical skills
