Applications Scientist/Product Specialist

Opportunity for an application scientist or product specialist to join rapidly growing global, financially secure, award-winning manufacturing business. The company have grown since inception into the market leader within a niche high technology field. The applications scientist / product specialist would be joining the company at an exciting time, with the launch of new products and expansion into different markets underway. The business has benefited from a large uplift in order volumes, which has led to a doubling of sales since 2013. The successful applications scientist/product specialist will play a key role in assisting the product development team with the testing and evaluation of new and existing products.

As the applications scientist / product specialist, your duties will include: -

* Developing new applications (method development) for technologies including sample handling, complete method specification and validation.
* Producing application documentation following method development including referenced papers for peer-reviewed journals.
* Testing and evaluating of product and processes.
* Contributing to the development of product specifications.
* Providing technical support to the production, marketing, sales and service departments.
* Researching and maintaining knowledge of competitor’s products and applications.

To be successful in your application for the applications scientist / product specialist, you will meet the following criteria: -

* A degree in a relevant physical scientific discipline, for example, chemistry or forensic science.
* Significant, hands-on industrial laboratory experience with gas chromatography (GC) and ideally mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
* Ideally, have knowledge/experience of thermal desorption (TD), SPME and or headspace.
* Method development or application development experience is advantageous.
* Willingness to undertake limited travel if needed.

In return, the applications scientist / product specialist will receive a salary of between £30,000 - £35,000 highly dependent on experience plus benefits.
